DISCOUNT DIESEL LAUNCHES SAT-NAV DOWNLOADS

Discount Diesel has launched a new refuelling site location service for all our customers whose vehicles are equipped with satellite navigation. This extra, free of charge facility provides regularly updated files of site locations which will help drivers navigate to a fuelling station when on the road.

The files are available in two formats: TomTom®, Garmin and Navman, each will be emailed to customers on request, for loading into their sat-nav system’s software.

There are multiple file options to suit particular operational needs including HGV Only, Non HGV only, 24 hour only etc... Cardholders may also request more than one file in order to tailor their sat-nav system to their own specific requirements, with unique Points of Information (POI) icons.

Drivers are being warned to prepare for the worst road conditions in decades as harsh winter weather combine with road maintenance budget cuts to cause havoc for UK roads.
Leading fuel card reseller, DiscountDiesel.co.uk, is urging drivers to plan ahead by investing in winter tyres and ensuring they know how to drive safety in ice and snow, after last year’s bad weather took many motorists unawares.

A recent poll found that 80 percent of local councils had experienced a road maintenance budget reduction, prompting concerns that road conditions will deteriorate even further this winter adding to drivers’ woes. Around 20 percent of councils said they have been prioritising short term fixes over permanent long –term solutions.

CONSUMERS LOOK TO NEW WAYS TO SAVE CASH ON VEHICLE PURCHASES

Car buyers have come up a new tactic to save money on car purchases by leasing their next vehicle.

A survey by Carleasingplus.co.uk showed that a third of UK car buyers are considering leasing their next car to help save money next year. Carleasing.co.uk is a new website providing contract hire and leasing packages to individuals and businesses alike, quickly and hassle free. The research also revealed that consumers aged 25-34 are more likely to lease, with 39 percent considering leasing their next new or used car and 36 percent of southern consumers being more likely to lease a car, while those in the East Midlands being least likely with only seven percent of drivers willing to consider the practice.

SHELL FUEL CARDS ACCEPTED AT M6 TOLLS!

Shell announced this week that their EuroShell card can now be used to pay for the M6 tolls. This is available to businesses of sizes and vehicle types.

This feature will stop the need for drivers to carry cash to pay for the Toll making it more secure for the drivers and ensure drivers won’t get caught out with no change. The security of business fleets has been brought into question in recent weeks, with panorama exposing businesses and employees who steal fuel, and there is nothing stopping drivers claiming for non-existent Toll charges from their employers.
